A program that is a cut above the competition...

Our philosophy is to create a culture where students strive to improve on a daily basis.  The training environment enables us to enhance the performance of each individual. Focusing on the fundamentals of technique and not outcome, allows the students to have proficiency in their development.  This allows each individual to excel in the athletic and academic development (physical, technical-tactical, mental, and emotional). We emphasize on creating good habits that impacts the athletes to train the correctly and properly.  We provide a development curriculum that challenges each individual to operate at the edge of their ability by training deeper and out of their comfort zone. Creating the right culture and environment along with proper guidance allows athletes at Optimum Hockey Academy to realize their true potential.

On Ice Development

The on-ice curriculum is skill based and develops the necessary tools to achieve the goals of each athlete. We employ proven training methods that are utilized by players we trained at the NHL, AHL, NCAA D1, and USHL levels. The focus is on the details that separate players from being good players or dynamic players. Our goal is to challenge the athletes by incorporating overspeed skating, Swedish passing, tactical play, game awareness, puck control, shooting technique and small area games on a weekly basis. This enables the players to perform at a high level and recognize how to apply the skill sets during game situations. The training is comprehensive and empowers the athletes to transfer these skills into the game. Throughout the course of the year, our goal is to utilize guest coaches who specialize in different facets of the game. This gives the players a different perspective and allows them to expand their knowledge of the game.

Off-Ice Development

Our mission is to help athletes achieve their peak potential and dominate their level of competition. We hope that our athletes never look back on their careers and wish they could have done more. That feeling of regret, of wanting a second chance to do better is a feeling that we actively endeavor to overcome. We achieve this through leading innovative training methods that are constantly evolving as research progresses. We utilize our tribe like culture that fosters growth and leadership. Lastly, we dedicate ourselves to developing our clients not just as athletes, but by preparing them for life after sports as well.

The intangible training of athletes – character and leadership growth – is where we separate ourselves from others. By investing in our unique system for developing great athletes, we likewise invest in you and make it our mission to help you reach your potential.

Character Development

Successful athletes derive from successful people.  Character development is an essential component of Optimum Hockey Academy.  Students learn to assess their current character traits, and reflect on their strengths and weaknesses.  They engage in lessons about the key character traits: leadership, positive peer relations, social responsibility, commitment, and perseverance.  They learn about these traits, discuss life applications, set personal goals, and reflect on their progress of goals.  We know each child has strengths and challenges.  We are dedicated in maximizing your child’s endowed traits and progressing their undeveloped traits.

Seminars & Charity Work

We encourage the student athletes to be well rounded and have interest in the game as well as outside of the game.  We have seminars throughout the year and expose the student athletes to different leaders and people in the community.  Through the seminars, our goal is to educate on different avenues in the hockey world (General Managers, Scouts, Coaches, Analytics, etc.).  Along with the hockey industry, we have seminars that focus on mindset, nutrition, leadership, management, etc. from different leaders in the community.  The seminar platform helps educate the student athletes to think beyond the game of hockey and to encourage them to make an impact in their communities.

Charity work is also an essential part of our character building program. We teach and encourage all of our students to think outwardly in helping others and to maintain good habits by taking action in their own lives and in the community.
